This cannot be purely a pinot noir. It's way too dark and while the nose is a very Californian pinot, the palate suggests zinfandel with its super jammy fruits and easy drinkability. I like it, don't get me wrong, but it's not a pinot noir.

Definitely not your normal Pinot Noir, but definitely a normality for Joseph Wagner. Much like his Meiomi (which he no longer owns, it is heavy and a "cab lovers pinot" but this one is in fact 100% Pinot Noir unlike the Meiomi. Dark cherry and cola spices, casis, vanilla, and a jammy mouth feel, with smooth tannin, full body, and a smooth finish. Although it isn't a classic pinot, it is a pretty darn good wine and pairs even with a steak.

Definitely on the fruitier side of Pinots. Full flavor of berries. Deep color. Velvety texture. For Pinot enthusiasts, I would say it's a reach. But, it still ties in nicely for those of us that are a little more open minded.
