Broquel Las Palmas Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Fruit forward, gets better as it has time to breathe. Nice wine for the price at Costco

Beautiful dark ruby in color with a wide brick /purple rim.
Very pronounced dark fruits on the nose, with blackberries, sweet plums, cherries, vanilla, leather, wood, licorice, spices, herbs, graphite, green pepper, cola, asparagus and peppercorn.
Medium to full-bodied, and smooth, with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Fruity on the palate with black currants, blackberries, blueberries, earth, oak, vanilla, cola, pencil lead, forest floor, vegetables, green peppers, bitter herbs and peppercorn.
Nice length on the finish with firm, yet round tannins and black pepper.
This Argentinian Malbec is very enjoyable. Very nicely balanced with nice complexity.
Right out of the bottle, it smells and tastes like a Californian Cabernet.
As it opens up (an hour later), it gets bigger tannins, and some more of the vegetable notes that I would expect from a South American Cabernet.
Drinking nicely now, but I'm going to leave my other bottle one additional year to see how it matures.
Good by itself, and great with BBQ Meats or roasted chicken dishes.
Grapes are hand harvested, and aged for 15 months in Oak barrels.
14% alcohol by volume.

Packs some power, but thought was lacking balance.

Dec 25th, 2020Color of dull purple, mixed with brown note. Nose of sweet ripe cherry, a touch of cocoa, wet earthy note, fresh mushrooms, and sweet oak. Taste of polished tannins, tasty acidic note, hickory and mouthful, sweet herb, sweet oak, warm and silky, and wet mushroom. Aftertaste of subtle acidic note, a touch of sulfate, hint of zest, and residual sweetness, medium long. The only drawback is the nose is a bit weak, other than that, a tasty cab with great price tag.
