On the nose, floral, slightly candied fruits of; blackberries, black plum, dark cherries, strawberries, dry herbs, incense, anise, rich dark moist soil, vanilla and violets for days. The body is M with M+ tannins. Fruits are; blackberries, black plum, dark cherries & black raspberries. Black cherry cola/licorice, figs, black tea, soft leather, spice, cigar, sage, dry crushed rocks, nice big fresh acidity and leaner, fresh fruit driven finish. Photos of; a tight shot of their vineyard grapes, Andrew Trio (Winemaker) and the dogs, Michael & Lauri Corliss (Owners) and night shot of the winery. Producer history and notes...Tranche translated from French means slice. The term is also used in Bordeaux futures. If you want to buy futures and you believe the price will increase, you want to buy in the first tranche or price offering. Negociants or resellers offer futures in tranches...tranche 1, tranche 2 and so on...each tranche going forward more expensive than the previous. Tranche works to style their wines based on the Rhône Valley. The winery is owned by Micheal & Lauri Corliss. I spent an hour with their Winemaker Andrew Trio. Andrew was born in Perth, Australia. He began his winemaking career in the Margaret River region. Andrew went to the University of Adelaide, South Australia, where he studied Oenology. After working harvests down under, he moved on to California, Mosel and Barossa before becoming Tranche's Winemaker. Tranche doesn't crimp on expenses. Micheal & Lauri give Andrew all the modern winery tools needed to push quality. They installed new concrete tanks last year and were just installing an additional 8-10 stainless tanks during our visit. As you see from the photos, their property is beautiful.

Bright red fruit, lettuce, green peppers and cedar on the nose. Medium plus acid, tannins showing themselves, sour cherries and cedar box. Not a whole lot of depth currently.
