Not rating this as it just wasn’t ready. Tannins never relaxed on day 2 or 3. The raw components are all there, but haven’t yet congealed. Leave this for another 2 - 3 years at least.

4 hour decant and this big boy was still closed down. What little it revealed hinted at the monster wine this will become. Still very primary extracted black fruit, pencil shavings, camphor, mammoth tannins with fresh acid. Desperately needs time to open up.

Fruit, tobacco, leather, nice long supple finish. Perfect way to spend my last days in paso drinking paso wines!

2018 opened Nov 2021.wonderful nose! — intense Violets and red raspberries. Light casssis fruit in the front. Strong dry tannins mid palate which makes for an odd mouth feel. I suspect this will improve greatly age.

2013 Vintage. 15.7% Alcohol. Still too tannic and needs more time in the cellar (year or more). Surprising.

2014 Vintage. 15.4% Alcohol. 51% Syrah , 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Tannat. Big fruit and tannins starting to resolve. Will likely be better with more aging.

These wines need time in the cellar. Clearly the 2012’s are in their drinking window.
