Amazingly complex nose after decanted for 2 hours. Dark fruit and pencil shavings led to blueberries and straight lead. Touch of mint, plum, and eucalyptus finish off the nose as it sits. On the palate, ripe plum leads the way in a mouth filling, silky smooth textured wine. Blueberry, dark chocolate, and interestingly enough a touch of basil as it sits. Stellar. Buy for the nose itself.

This is the first time that I have tasted the 2010 vintage of Willy, but I have certainly had about 10 other vintages in the past. By comparison, this vintage is super concentrated with amazing levels of pencil box and cedar and tobacco along with that underlying current of Barossa eucalyptus and licorice/tarragon. Super dense, super plush, and IMNSHO, not a wine to be paired with food. It dominates the plate.

One of the great Shiraz wines of Barossa, with sufficient fine-grained tannins to keep the rich fruit in check.

Lush blackberries, very spicy, black pepper, olives, soy sauce, good acidity, gorgeous powdery tannines. Well balanced wine, heartwarming, certainly not too sweet.

Can't wait for 2020. Excellent structure, still heaps of fruit but very well balanced oak. A bit like a rebellious teenager right now.
