The Winery of Good Hope
Bush Vine Pinotage
This wine needs to be treated like a Nebbiolo and aerated, for 30+min. Initially the flavours were constrained, sour red fruit, cranberry, raspberry, red plum, hints of black fruit. Otherwise very herbal, lost of green underripe tones, vine branches ?! Once opened up the fruit characteristics were more pronounced, black currant, black plum, blueberry, sweet red fruit still there, more savoury secondary flavours now, liquorice is evident, not as herbal. On the palate fruit is lovely and smooth, well rounded, tannins medium w acid matching. The herbal/bush is evident just not as much, tending toward the back of the palate.

Juicy, zesty, easy-going Pinotage from free-run juice. No fining/filtering. Short skin contact in cold. Matured in SS tanks. 35-42yo vines.
Glittering violets color, ruby rim.
Appearance of smoky laurel, juniper bush, some inks over cornel, red currant, plum, bird cherry. Shades of violets and mocha.
Lively medium-bodied palate, nicely tart. Bit biting tannins behind wild cherry, red currant, ripe blackthorn flavors. Funky spice with underlying minerality.
Lifting acidity at quite racy, med- finish.
