How cool is this label? I definitely believe what’s on the inside is what counts, however I do appreciate an interesting and eye-catching wine label when I see one.
I picked this bottle for my 3-bottle Good Pair Days delivery last month (thank you for the sample pack guys!).
This is a dry 2018 Chenin Blanc from the Western Cape region in South Africa. You can read more about the producer on the Good Pair Days website. While researching the producer, I did spot that they are a biodynamic wine producer, however I am not 100%. So don’t quote me on that.
The Good Pair Days team suggest to match this one with seafood, white fish, crab and spiced pork. Their matching recipe for this specific wine is an Avocado, Pea and Mint Pasta which I am super keen to make. Yum!
Here are our notes on the wine:
It’s a pale silvery-yellow colour in the glass. On the nose it has a rather oaky orange aroma, perhaps a bit of marmalade with a citrus freshness to it. In the mouth it’s fruit driven with decent acidity and notes of orange and a hint of chamomile coming through.
This is one I probably wouldn’t opt for again, it wasn’t bad, I just didn’t find that it ignited the excitement on my palate that I was hoping for.
