2014 G.B. Crane El Coco
45% Zin 41% Petitie Sirah 14% Merlot.
A Dave Phinney wine.
45/ 60 minute decanting.
Color dark garnet/purple.
The nose certainly grabs your attention. Blueberries, dried lavender, rosemary, orange mist. That’s unique.
Palate- Medium bodied, tannins & acidity are right down the middle 5/10. Black fruits & jam is most noticeable, influenced by some nice soft blue fruit. Secondary notes of Cedar, black candies. Vanilla hit you on the mid -palate until the very end. Surprising elegant finish. Drinking now.

Powerful and full-fruited. Rich Red fruit tones and subtle barrel tones. A sensual bouquet and seamless finish. Alcohol is pretty well-hidden, but I don’t know if it demands this price.

This wine shows up under some different names within delectable. Kevin Fox is the winemaker of this 47% old vine Zinfandel, 42% Petite Sirah, 9% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon blend. PnP. Fun wine that is sure to be liked by many. @David L

Despite the Noles getting beat, this bottle was a crowd pleaser.

Another blazing-hot Phinney Zin blend that obliterates the varietals involved yet delivers some guilty pleasure... a tad pricey for this level of quality though... you can get a fairly similar experience with his entry-level stuff and after a glass or two of 16% flamethrowers any difference will vanish entirely ;)

For some real fun, get a group of Prisoner fans in a blind tasting with a range of Phinney wines and watch as confusion and disbelief reign!

@Shawn R ...WELL DONE! This was part of a trio of wines that Shawn and I swapped. He was swooning over this and said it was a must try. Now I see why. This is a Dave Phinney wine and though you can taste his style, it's more elegant than The Prisoner (similar blends in that this is majority zin! Would not of guessed it). Ton of blackberries upfront on the nose...small spice to it and a rockin cedar/smokey note. On the palate, surprising acidity. Not overpowering from a tannic standpoint at all, even as a '14. Vanilla, toasted oak, blackberry jam. Shawn sent this as I told him my wife likes the jammy and bold zins...home run, Shawn!

The wine is made by The Crane Assembly, yet Delectable has it by a different name. Regardless, this is a must try-period. Prettiest nose reveals a cashmere soft side. Dripping with blackberries. Get this 45% old vine Zinfandel, 41% Petite Verdot and the rest is Merlot. You would be hard pressed to guess the blend. Loads of blackberry, blueberry, graphite and creosote. Finish displays Mediterranean herbs, black currant and smoked vanilla. This is off the charts good. Parker 95 pointer. Don't miss it.

Really original wine, reminds me of the first time I tasted The Prisoner years and years ago, the original Zinfandel version that is. This is a Petit Syrah, Merlot, Cab blend with concentrated flavors and deep complexity… Need time to open and achieve balance. Cheers.
