I am not generally a fan of ports, as they are more liquor than wine in my estimation. That said, port does have its place as a social sipper following a large meal. This is a good example of the libation, thick and syrupy at 19%. This Zinfandel based effort tastes like an excellent Amador Zin but super concentrated; thick blackberry and blueberry tones flowed by a tingly alcoholic finish.

1 person found it helpfulNov 23rd, 2014Is this a still wine or a port? Lighter in body and mouthfeel than a traditional port. Flavors and aromas of cooked dark fruits, raisins, figs and Carmel. Very rich, balanced, smooth and enjoyable. Chocolate notes on the finish. Gripping acidity. Thank you for this bottle, John P.

Aug 19th, 2018Sweet, but not too much like syrup. Great in moderation. Maybe over ice cream. I had mine with berries and cream, a little much!
