Tasty baked fruit flavors: cherry compote, raisins, dried figs, little bit of caramel. Not as much glycerine in the mouthfeel as I usually associate with port-like wines, nor the body. Almost like a halfway point between table wine and fortified dessert wine.

I am not generally a fan of ports, as they are more liquor than wine in my estimation. That said, port does have its place as a social sipper following a large meal. This is a good example of the libation, thick and syrupy at 19%. This Zinfandel based effort tastes like an excellent Amador Zin but super concentrated; thick blackberry and blueberry tones flowed by a tingly alcoholic finish.

Charm of this port style Zin is the price point: intense deep dark brooding style layered with plenty of alcohol along side varietally typical aromas. Little too much heat for me, viscous glycerine madness in a bottle - come get some...
