A pinot from the southernmost wine region in the world for a ridiculous price (13 USD in local currency) . I had to try...
The nose is exactly what I expect from a kiwi Pinot : cherry, pomegranate, black tea, a bit of a savoury thing too. Quite inviting! The palate is quite lively with a strong acid drive and interestingly, some rather harsh tannins in the rear, some nice sliky mouthfeel before then, with nice juicy cherry notes. The finish is long and showcases mostly that tannic layer, which is unlike anything else I have had in Pinot before, and pomegranate and cherry touches that continue for a while too. It's a bit rough around the edges, it feels whole bunch and a bit unripe somehow, but it's interesting nevertheless.
