Pinot Noir on shale, clone 777 does better in South Africa than Burgundy where it does not ripen very well. Bright red fruit signature of Elgin. Red plum, red cherry, pomegranate, blackberry, pepper, meat, dried herbs, grippy tannins from whole cluster. 9 months in barrel, 15% new French oak. Medium plus acid, elevated tannins, medium finish, full body and fleshy. 13.5% abv.
