Sula Vineyards
Cabernet Shiraz
Had the 2014, so I figured the 2015 couldn't be too bad. What a difference a year makes. This was much too young with cherry and plum flavor, but a bit too hot to get any aromas other than hot alcohol. The temperature also made for a bit of a harsh hot finish. After it actually cooled to room temp, it softened a bit. I guess proper cellaring helps, but it's just too young.

May 13th, 2016No expectations, but wow, what a pleasant surprise. Smokey cedar aromas with red and black fruits playing second fiddle. Nicely orchestrated black cherry, black olive, and anise flavors with firm tannins and long finish. Too bad this is the export wine since we'll be in India soon for the next 3 weeks.

May 3rd, 2016Surprising smokey + plum flavor. I've not always had much to say about Sula: it's a bit of a house wine in India, but this one makes for a pleasant stand alone glass. Best I've had from Sula.
