Quite supple and open knit on the nose with cool citrus fruit and salinity. Controlled fruit with a minty edge but restrained and delicious. Very good.

My limited experience of Napa Valley Chardonnays have been usually the over oaked ultra ripe variety so this Stony Hill was a refreshing change. Stony Hill have been making Chardonnay since 1952 so have great experience with the variety. Pale to mid Gold. Non oaky no malolactic in fact neutral wood is used. Honey sweet palate with nectarine and almond. In the 1001 Wines book and deservedly so.

Subtle aromatics of rain in a dry stony riverbed, lemon curd. Bright acidity and brilliant presence and texture. Medium plus finish. Very young and exuberant.
