Today started with a ~13hr drive to the southwest Chicago suburbs for the Christmas holiday, perfect driving weather and minimal traffic. My father-in-law decanted this for a couple hours in advance of our arrival. They really enjoy Missouri wines, this Norton is always special. I was smitten after we were lucky to enjoy a bottle from '83 that was in perfect condition, just a few years back.
Nose has plum juice, plum skin, raspberry juice and a light, sweet herbal note.
Palate has plum juice, black cherry compote, tanned leather and gentle tannins.
Lovely bottle, likely 10 years yet to go.
