Stags' Leap Winery
The Leap Estate Grown Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon Blend
Stags’ Leap Winery. Not to be confused with Stags’ Leap wine cellars. The Leap. Around $100 a bottle. This is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon. I wish I could give it a higher rating. Don’t get me wrong it is delicious but it’s worth about 60 bucks a bottle on my palate. I wouldn’t want to pay more than 45 but this is 2020. I have a couple of their $200 a bottle of Audentia in my cellar. And I ordered two more bottles of the Leap last week. Now on to the review. The nose on this wine is very simple. Violets and Black licorice. The pallet begins with those dark blackberries, currants, and ripe plums. The middle demonstrates that well rounded Tannin that I look for in a good cab. The finish comes on pretty strong with a dry yet tart and buttery finale. It is very dry and my lips are burning for water. It’s missing complexity in the center. However I can sip on this all night long And drink one or even two bottles with ease.
