On the nose, warm, ripe, baked fruits of; blackberries, black plum, spiced plum, dark cherries, boysenberries and haunting blue fruits. Menthol, hints of eucalyptus, black cherry licorice, raspberry cola, warm rich black earth, loamy volcanic soils with bright fresh dark florals and violets. The fruits are ripe and have a slight candied liqueur quality. Tannins are round, soft and nearly completely resolved. Blackberries, boysenberries, black plum, spiced plum, black raspberries, dark cherries, blue fruits, strawberry preserves, concentrated pomegranate, silty loamy volcanic soils, crushed dry rock powered, the menthol is a bit more pronounced than on the nose, eucalyptus that plays hide & go seek on the palate, mint, soft and delicate spices that increase in heat, suede leather, dry underbrush, fresh red florals & violets, red vines licorice, black cherry cola, dark rich moist earth, palate dripping acidity with a ripe fruit, fresh red florals and a round bodied long, elegant finish. Photos of the Fay Vineyard, new(er) tasting bar, exterior building and their Winemaker Marcus Notaro in the cellar. Since his arrival, he has definitely increased the quality of their wines...from his techniques, to barrel selection and barrel toast.

2005 vintage in restaurant for decent price?! Excellent fruit, still some tannins left, pencil, yum.
