My rating is a little higher than some of the previous ones. I think this is a love it or hate it wine, and I came down on the positive side. There is the cherry and dry strawberry fruit that a lot of pinots have, but at least initially it’s less prominent than some other, less expected flavors. I got olive oil, smoked meat, popcorn, and orange peel, with some lemony acidity. After a little bit of air these various complexities mellowed, leaving a stronger fruit flavor and something like petrol. I didn’t think any of this was bad, but this was unlike other pinots I’ve had. I’m sure some people won’t like it. I think it worked pretty well with a Chinese style vegetarian stir-fry.
