Dark candied cassis, licorice & wild dark florals on the nose. Dark ripe sweet cassis, black licorice anise. Blackberries, black cherries, black raspberries and creamy raspberries dance in the background. The tannins are Rutherford dusty in style...tamed but still a ways to go before they achieve all they will. The dark minerals are grainy. There is just the faintest presence of herbs. Dark expresso roast, black tea, violets, roses, rich black earth, crushed dry rocks and some underbrush. There's good structure, balance, length, acidity and a long, very rich, lush, sweet dark fruit finish. This wine reminds me a little of a 00 Forts de Latour I had a few weeks ago. It's very good now, but looking forward to trying it again in 5-8 years.
