Spring Mountain District Chardonnay

Granny Smith apple, candied orange zest, dried apricot, lemon, honey and oak. Great acidity and minerality.

Dark golden in color.

Nice nose of yellow apples, pears, light honey, spices, cedar, citrus, light vanilla and pineapples.

Full bodied and creamy with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with lemons, citrus, apples, limes, earth, minerals, white pepper and sea salt.

Tangy finish with limes.

This 5-year-old Chardonnay from Napa Valley is drinking very nicely now. Easy drinking and enjoyable. Showing nice complexity at this point.

Nicely balanced and well structured. A good quality wine that will continue to age nicely in the next 3 to 5 years.

Needs 20 minutes of airtime to come to its own.

Good by itself as a sipping wine. Tangy and interesting.

100% Chardonnay grapes from Spring Mountain District were aged in (55% new) French Oak barrels for 9 months.

Vanilla, cream cheese, acacia, white flowers, sweet baking spices, med+ acidity, very broad and textured, 14.5% abv.
100% new French oak and frequent lees stirring (twice a day).

Visited on Sep 3rd 2022 in the morning, greeted by the responsible vineyard guard dog 🐶 who turned into the happiest sloppy doggo during our tasting appointment. Charlie Smith just finished picking the estate Cab Sauv fruit that morning started at 6am. And we witnessed fruits coming in and the destemmer churning and read through reflectometer that the Brix sits at 24.5.

Charlie Smith is a such a personality but that’s a story for another time :)

The six-year-old Chardonnay from Napa is drinking so nicely right now. Nice to see how it aged.

Creamy, buttery, and not over the top with a oak notes. Showing nice complexity with a great mouthfeel.

Nicely balanced with a tangy finish.

Good right out of the bottle, and better when not too cold.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A pretty deep gold in color.

Fruity nose with red and yellow apples, citrus, herbs, spices, toasted oak, marzipan, light vanilla and white pepper. Lovely nose.

Full bodied and creamy with medium acidity and long fat legs.

Dry on the palate with citrus, limes, vanilla, oak, lemons, apples, pears, spices, bitter herbs and black pepper.

Medium plus in length on the finish with almonds.

This is a very enjoyable Chardonnay from Napa Valley.
Showing a nice mouthfeel with nice complexity.

Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. A good quality wine, tangy and spicier than I expected.

Needs time to open up properly, and better when not too cold.

This 4 year old is drinking very nicely now. I had the 2016 a year ago and loved it even more.

Will be nice to revisit it in a few years.

I paired it with cheeses and crackers by the pool.

Light yellow in color with a golden tint.

Strong nose of citrus, vanilla, oak, spices, yellow apples, white pepper, ripped melons, Mandarins, mediterranean spices, almonds and white pepper.

Full bodied, creamy and smooth, with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with lemons, citrus, green apples, pineapples, limes, light earth, light wood, spices and black pepper.

Long finish with tangy limes.

This is a fabulous Chardonnay from Spring Mountain District in Napa Valley. Nicely balanced and tangy. Showing nice complexity now, and is enjoyable by itself.

This four-year-old needs time open up. Good right out of the bottle, but really changed after an hour of airtime. It became a completely different wine. Lost almost all of its oak notes which I liked. So nice to see the evolution.

Would be nice to see how this continues to develop in the next few years. Tasty and delicious.

Round, seamless and mouth-filling. Great viscous and textural richness with spine and keep it all wound together. Gorgeous yellow fruit, cream, lees, hazelnut, salty, and filled with subtle earthy notes. Theres an elevation character/intensity that I love. Everything I want Napa Chardonnay to be.

Bright, clean and vibrant nose of bees wax, apricot, sage and white flowers. Racy acidity with a refreshing mouth full of grapefruit, lemon balm, and nectarines. The zippy finish is laden with wet stone, citrus zest and white pepper.
