Continuing on my Strange Brew by @skigh_wine ‘Fumé 3 Ways’ taste test. Winemaker Skigh McManus from Margaret River fermented the same wine 100% naturally and addition free in 3 separate vessels - clay amphora, French oak barrel and stainless steel. This is the oaked Fumé... It’s a deeper yellow in colour than the others. Creamy oak vanilla and spiced grapefruit stand out on the nose for me. While in the mouth it’s juicy and creamy with hints of lemon honey. It’s flavoursome yet light and elegant. My palate was crushin’ on this one the most out of the three.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #sample #tcweekdaywine

Winemaker Skigh McManus from Margaret River fermented the same wine 100% naturally and addition free in 3 separate vessels - clay amphora, French oak barrel and stainless steel. This is the amphora Fumé... This one is still that pale yellow colour yet slightly cloudier in appearance. On the nose it has a hint if florals, some type of mushroom/fungi whiffs and notes of spiced citrus. In the mouth it’s light yet has a very rounded lemon-y flavour.

Recently for #WineWednesday I got my Strange Brew on. This Fumé Blanc is 1 of 3 bottles by @skigh_wine in a ‘Fumé 3 Ways’ series. Winemaker Skigh McManus from Margaret River fermented the same wine 100% naturally and addition free in 3 separate vessels - clay amphora, French oak barrel and stainless steel. What a night I had trying them! The other 2 tasting notes will be published right after this!

The 100% steel Fumé seems a touch clearer in lemon-y appearance than the other two. It has a rather funky nose of florals, grass and fermenting fruit - for some reason it made me crave me of dumplings and dipping sauce..? It’s light and approachable in the mouth with a bit of citrus fizz on the tongue.
