The Davey Estate Shiraz

Deep purple in color with a short purple rim, and a strong fruity nose.

Full-bodied with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate and fruit forward.

Showing black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, tobacco, earth, vegetables, dark chocolates and peppercorn.

Spicy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

Showing a harsh mouthfeel and a little hot at the back of the throat.

Good right out of the bottle and better after 2 hours of airtime.

This 6-year-old will not get any better, so it's time to drink up.

Good representation of the style. Lots of fruit, pretty dense. Like an oil slick.

Good value, and easy deep red but not a lot of depth.

2018 vintage was a delight. Rich and plumy.

I like the fruity nose. The flavor is very good with nice body and pleasant fruit. Not terribly challenging but robust enough to really be enjoyable.

Blackberry, with some tannins up front. Mid of berry, cherry and tannins continuing. Finish of fennel and blackberry. May be better with some aging.

Oak and licorice.

Color - deep garnet
Nose - pepper, licorice, black fruit. Very mineral.
Palate - full body, mediun acidity. Plum, currant, black pepper, and licorice. More concentrated than I'm used to in a shiraz, which is great. Excellent QPR ($13 on WTSO)
