Shaw Vineyard
Reserve Finger Lakes Merlot
Very enjoyable. Proof that the Finger Lakes can produce good reds.

Jul 19th, 2014Jammy plums in the aroma with a little cocoa. The palate brings in brighter raspberries to create a nice balance of fruit. The minerality is dry stone and slate, with a little graphite. Hints of leather and tobacco. The acidity is strong and there’s a little heat in the finish, but the fruit lingers. I don’t usually like pure Merlot varietals, but this is really nice, brighter and dryer than many.
