Serafini & Vidotto
il Rosso dell'Abazia
A serious Bdx-blend, combining rich and decadent cassis and blackberry fruit, tight tannins and toasty oak into a full-bodied wine, with good ageing potential. Sadly, it's finish is dominated by bitter oak tannins, hindering the fruit from fully expressing itself. Time will tell.

Oct 29th, 2014One of the wines that was most often awarded Tre Bicchieri throughout the years by Gambero Rosso. I can certainly see why. Fruit is still kicking, but at this stage it takes the backseat to complex savory and earthy notes with touch of smoke and red floral.
Rich and velvety on the palate. Candied long finish.
A blend of Cab, Cab Franc and Merlot.

If tasted blind, I would guess it’s a Ripasso. But if you tell me this is a Cab leading Bordeaux blend, I would nod my head also. And it only has 13% abv for all the richness. Fascinating.

Jan 15th, 2023A left bank blend from Veneto. Ripe black plum, cassis, dried fig, nutmeg, pencil shavings, and dark chocolate. Rich smooth palate that at times feels like drinking a Ripasso. But there are enough fruits and acidity left for balance. Mellow tannins still has baby teeth.
Nice find.

Great Bdx blend from Colli Asolani. Plenty of cassis, some herbs, blackberry and cherry. Plenty of stuffing and nice sweetness in the fruit. Tannis are present but fine and enough acidity to cut. Nice medium++ length with cherry and blackberry notes. Only complain is slight heat from alcoholnif wine is above 18-19degC. Plenty of life ahead. Was great with ossobucco and polenta
