Screaming Eagle
The Flight Oakville Red Blend
Oakville, Napa Valley, California, USA

You definitely get the Merlot here. 67% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet.
2016 an excellent vintage. This still needs more cellaring.
The mouth entry is round, lush & velvety. Fruits lead mid toned but nice blackberries, plum, strawberries cherries, raspberries and a touch of black raspberries. Dark chocolate, mocha, dark, rich, slightly sweet forest floor, light fresh tobacco, excellent softly layered baking spices-clove, nutmeg, cinnamon & vanillin, hints of granite, red cola/licorice. Beautiful, dark, red florals, red roses petals, near perfect acidity, excellent balance/tension/structure with an elegant finish that lasts nearly two-minutes and falls evenly on fruits & beautiful earth.

Part 1 of the final and main event for the Fall WNH. The most spectacular lineup of wines I’ve ever seen, and an overall wonderful ending to an amazing trip with fantastic people.
This is crazy young, but is already that good...and will go up a point or two over the next few years without question. Dust covered ripe fruits (blackberry, raspberries, plum) on the nose with a powerful entry and mid palate...cascading rich fruits that ooze flavor. Dark chocolate caramel too. Tannic and plenty of acidity to go for a good while. Wish I could have spent more time with this. Thank you @Eric LaMasters for bringing this and opening in the name of research!

A merlot blend from the cult icon. Purity and precision - not remotely what I had anticipated. Chiseled and long with a high toned acidic drive. Absolutely lovely

1.5 hour decant (little fine/cloudy sediment). A gorgeous dark purplish magenta color. On the nose: very aromatic notes greet you with black plum/blackberry, forest floor, leather, floral, menthol, cedar, and milk chocolate. Taste: silky, rich, lush wine with brambly red plum, graphite, leather, chocolate mocha, and a spiced dried herbs/cigar box long finish. YUM!

They freshness is a characteristic - I got it with this wine. It was light with a punch. Flavor were bold but not dulled or softened with age.
