Earthy, raspberry, Xmas pine tree, chunky tomato marinara sauce and bbq. All these things are coming to mind when tasting. Maybe I should take this bottle hiking on Christmas Day, and have BBQ and pasta dinner this year? Not like this hasn’t happened on an average day.

Jul 4th, 2018Founded in 1980, Walter Schug earned a reputation during his tenure as Founding Winemaker for Joseph Phelps Vineyards in the 1970s, where he made California’s first proprietary Bordeaux-Style blend "Insignia". Ruby with fresh berry aromas and some spice. On the palate cherry & raspberry flavors with sweet spice and oak notes. Lively acidity with good balance medium+ finish ending with spicy tones.

Sep 27th, 2017Again it is Friday everyone! I feel like a Pinot and I am trying the Sonoma Coast 2012 Schug Pinot Noir. I am loving the nose which brings out a bit of funk, cherry juice, cranberries and dusty soil. On the palate the cherry continues with spicy flavors and small nuances of cranberry. There is a nice acidity and a long finish I like very much. I bought this at $19.99 which makes it a should buy.
