Grosse Lage Riesling Kabinett from Rheingau.
Nose of chalk, lemon, lemon curd, a tiny zesty touch, some vanilla, some bready, leesy notes too.
The palate is clearly sweet and has RS, giving it a viscosity not unlike syrup, some great lemon curd notes all along, some grip in the rear and a long, fresh, zesty, lemony finish with almost a peary and peachy touch that makes you reach for the bottle for another immediate pour. I would have loved a bit more tension but this is really good in itself and it stood its ground against scorpion pepper Tabasco without breaking a sweat.
