Smells and looks exactly like a good Langhe. Brick red with aromas of dried cherry, menthol, mint and other herbs. Medium weight palate - M plus tannins; M plus acid - typical again. As good as anything I’ve had as a Rosso from Piedmont. Myself and fellow judges made this the Grand Champion of the Toowoomba Wine Show in 2019. Also Trophy, best other variety red, 2018 Adelaide Hills Wine Show. Have written previously about Steve Pannell’s expertise with alternative varieties.

Talk about a happy surprise, as my first Australian Nebbiolo, courtesy of Stephen Pannell and the Adelaide Hills, lifts from the glass in a gorgeous display, showing bright cherry, peppery herbs, both rosy and violet florals, hints of tobacco, and cedar shavings.  On the palate, silky textures usher in petty red berry fruits, seeming to hover across the senses with ease, turning more to cranberry and savory spice, as a mix of round tannin and minerals settle in. The finish is long, echoing tart red fruits with a tug of grippy tannin, yet not overpowering, instead in perfect harmony, as pretty inner florals and spice linger.

Muted nose. Steve Pannell said decant for 2 hours before serving. I only did 45 Minutes but it did give more after 2 hours. Colour is pale to mid crimson. Aged in old French oak puncheons for 24 months. Cherry/earth aromas and flavours finishing with fine powdery slightly bitter Tannins. Perfect food wine - went well with Pork mince. An excellent rendition of a new world Nebbiolo if not a little on the light side - more like a Langhe Rosso.

One of the best Aussie Nebs I've tried. Gaining its colour with age. Sexy tannic grip with fig, tobacco and earthy weight. Hints of spice and rose. So good. Amazing with food. Decanted 4 hours before drinking.

Cherry aromas with a touch of tar. Medium bodied with raspberry/cherry notes finishing with powdery dry tannins and medium + acid. Made by one of Australia's best exponents of alternative grape varieties. Very good example of new world Nebbiolo.

Easily mistaken for a shiraz. Disappointed at first but let it get heaps of air and it becomes a different wine

Still bright and lovely to have a Nebbiolo at home that hasn’t suffered from travel. Delicious with slow-cooked lamb shanks in a winter’s eve.
