Saxum Vineyards
Broken Stones Red Rhone Blend
Wine of the month for me so far, first dinner at a restaurant with friends in a long while, this was a fitting bottle to mark the occasion. No decant required, just a chiller and little air and it was 🎶

Seems like a lot of the 2014s are going to evolve a bit quicker than the 2013s (and 2011s for that matter; haven’t had a 2012 yet, I think, at least not from Saxum). Justin Smith just keeps making amazing wine after amazing wine. Awesome.

There is present acidity and a well structured tannic profile that helped this cut through a steak. While Saxum always maintains balance even with rich fruit and high alcohol levels I think they show best when allowed to mellow for a decade, this is no exception as I believe it will improve significantly.
