Fruity but not overly sweet, slightly robust enough to pair with pizza or pasta, but not peppery, very smooth.

Pulled down the 2003 vintage for a great basil mint and Merlot meatball night. Richness developed with age on this one. A fine bottle.

We met the winemakers at a tasting. Delightful couple, and a beautiful wine. The riserva was also excellent.

If you want a Chianti with a bit more “oomph”, such as for a nice veal cutlet, grilled chicken, pasta primavera, grilled eggplant, or similar dish, go with a Chianti Classico or Chianti Rufina in the $12-25 range.
