Sassafras Springs Vineyard
Wahluke Slope Syrah
Tonight's wine is the 2016 Sassafras Springs Winery Wahluke Slope Syrah. Sassafras Springs Winery is located in Northwest Arkansas and they source their grapes for this Syrah out of Washington State from the Wahluke Slope AVA.
On the nose it is a bit on the weak side and that may be because it is so young. After letting it sit for awhile and swirling vigorously I can get blackberry, black cherry, black pepper, dark chocolate, licorice, and dark rich soil.
On the palate is blackberry, black cherry, licorice, black pepper, a herbaceous note and strong earth.
The wine is medium to full bodied with medium to plus acidity and medium + gripping tannins that leads to a long peppery finish. Have a great rest of the week and please be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷
