Tried it blind and guessed a Spanish Rioja. Either I suck, or this isn't a very good Cali Pinot noir, is it?
Despite that, I like it very much. Why must we be so caught up in whether the varietal is expressing itself accurately? Sometimes it's just whether the wine is doing its job or not, right?

Nicely aged coastal Pinot. Dried currants and licorice notes. Deep ruby body. Nicely aged but nearing the end of its drinkability.
