If not for the meal pairing, this wine would not have been as delicious. However, we enjoyed it with New York strip steak, in garlic mushroom sauce with asparagus tips. The pungent flavors of the food were complemented and tempered by the acidity of the wine. The red currant flavors and intense mineralogy made it ideal for the food, but I would not recommend it for a cocktail wine.
