Another 4th Friday for the books! What a variety this month!

Compared to some of the other older Napa wines we tasted, I never got any green notes here. Balanced. Tannins are mostly hidden, so I’d start drinking if you have any. Very red and black fruit dominant. Truffled mushrooms, oiled leather and the other secondary notes are getting more pronounced.

A wine that I have had many times that was originally purchased based on RP’s notes where he compared it with several 1st growths. This has continued to drink well upon release & shows no sign of slowing down. A cool vintage cab with notes of dark fruits, cassis, mocha, sweet & savory spices, forest floor, licorice & tobacco.

Done in a Bordeaux register with great cabernet and merlot with density and freshness same time. You cant tell its age by the robe. Tobacco, leather, blackcurrant, medium bodied and complex. No rush.

Birth year bottle for daughter #2 and college graduation celebration. Unlike her, this one’s way past its prime. πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“

Cherries, cranberries, bell pepper, leather and spicebox. Lighter and leaner than expected, fine grained tannines, lacking some length and complexity.
A nice wine, but nothing more. Poor QPR.
