This was an 87 on day one and an 89 on day two, almost completely different wines. Huge flavor density, initially like stewed strawberry and heavy tannins and an almost sauce-like texture, but it leveled out on day two into a rich wine with nice red and black fruit with dried herbs. It really wants food, and I can see it with lamb particularly well.

Dec 11th, 20182016 Roucas Toumba Vacqueyras “La Grande Terre”. 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre. Dark, grippy wine that drinks a lot like good Bandol. A lot going on in a sub $20 weeknight red. Will be buying more. Drinks especially well with Bon Iver.
