Continuing my journey through TX wines...@Mark Flesher and I compared some ‘16 TX viogniers, and it was a treat to see the differences.

At pop and pour, this was a 9.0...with more time open, his hit 9.2-9.3! What an awesome take on Viognier. At its best, the nose was full of smoky rich notes, and the palate had nice acidity that was mainly lime, crushed rock, and a great oily texture. Very nice
@Ron Yates ! Just noticed that @Shawn R and I scored this the same...I totally get the marshmallow note, Shawn!

Saline and wet limestone nose. Traditional oily texture on the mouth, limestone transcends to the palate. You get that slight ocean spray taste on the mid palate. Finish is rich showing loads of burnt marshmallow.

@Ron Yates well done sir.

Super rich-wet stone and brioche with a spiced pear finish.

Spot one. Don't change the recipe. Would have said Paso if it was a blind tasting.

Great summer wine. If you have the chance to visit, you will enjoy the relaxed and local vibe.
