A great full bodied red blend - and a good buy to boot

We don't get a lot of chances to drink big red wines at home because Raina doesn't eat red meat, but I decided on duck tonight and knew this was in in our wine fridge. It was the perfect pairing. Perfect example of California red wine worth its price point. Dusty, earthy nose with cocoa powder, vanilla, and very dark fruit. On the palate it's lush and full bodied with bitter dark chocolate and great tannic structure that doesn't dry your mouth out. This is drinking wonderfully now, but I could also see this mellowing and developing more nuance with time.

Nice vino. Judging by how I feel today, I liked it too much last night.

Tannins are nice and hang around. Chocolate in the finish. Jammy plum, back palate spice, fruit punches the nose. Strange blend that works. Probably great with food.
