Bold, dare I say… monstrous tannins, but balanced out by dark fruit mid-palate and floral aromas on the nose. Hard to imagine this wine when it was released. 16 years later and still gripping the palate tightly.

OPAQUE 2014 petit verdot Colina D’Oro Vineyard, San Antonio Winery. The color of coarse is midnight black with a purple reflection on the walls of the glass. The bouquet is CHOCOLATE!!!!!!! OMG... The initial palate has loads of dark fruit and berries, raspberries, and fig. The mid-palate brings on the chocolate and vanilla and graphite. Then comes the long finish with smoke and oak to a dry dry finish!!!!! Still one of my all time favorites from California!!!

Did not enjoy it! Never had a Petit Verdot before, therefore the wine itself is probably pretty good and I’m thinking I’m just not a fan of Petit Verdot’s in general.

This is Opaque 2010 petit verdot from paso robles ! The Riboli family has done it again. This wine is outstanding! The color is obviously black / opaque to midnight purple. The legs are thick, slow, and long. The bouquet is blackberry pie fresh out of the oven. The initial palate is spice and pepper on an oak tree with hints of black currant! Yummy! The finish is long with no butter but loads of chocolate and vanilla. I need a cigar after this bottle which I plan on drinking all by myself! This Is My very favorite wine ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I were stranded on an island this would be all I need, well, and maybe a fishing pole!

Drink this wine at midnight in the pitch black! This dark velvety wine will tease your senses and leave you satisfied! Drink now or lay it down for years.

Tannin for days. Dark fruit. Piney wood notes with some residual greenery. I like it.

Like a rustic prune! (In a good kinda way) Pairing well with my pork chop and beet salad with drizzled balsamic $25
