La Landonne Côte-Rôtie Syrah
Dense, meaty and powerful. Lovely in every way.

Jul 23rd, 2019Incredibly elegant & understated, I would have called it Burgundy in texture & aroma if blinded. It never ceases to amaze me how N Rhone Syrah, esp Cote Rotie, is nothing like any Syrah from any other place on earth (that I've tasted)

Dec 14th, 2016A mellow nose that smelled of crayons, smoke, red and dark fruit. Intensity and depth was less than I was hoping for possibly pointing to the vintage. This evolved well over 30 min. Still alive #rostaing #coterotie #lalandonne #syrah

Dec 17th, 2015Plumy, olives and bacon fat. From the Roy Weldon cellar. Some funk on the nose and acidity in the finish bit lacking in length. Perfect now and don't hold.

Oct 25th, 2014On the nose this is a bit restrained- notes of cigar smoke, plums, and raw steak - but it really comes alive on the palate with lovely sandalwood, plums again and charred beef but also great lift befitting its rocky minerality and lively acidity to keep it fresh. A few years has done a great deal for this and it's in a terrific spot with more to come.
