La Landonne Côte-Rôtie Syrah
The 2021 Côte-Rôtie La Landonne offers a red-fruited profile paired with pencil shavings, meaty undertones and a marked herbaceous streak. Framed by firm tannins and balanced by refreshing acidity, the 2021 hits the palate with juicy red fruits and great intensity. Still, it can’t compete with the more generous and complex 2022. (Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous, March 2024)

Amazing pair w/ my Braised Short Ribs. Savory meets savory fruits.
Photos of; Pierre, staff and Sofia & I in La Landonne Vineyard, the process of Short Ribs.
The one mineral you see in this vineyard with some prevalence that I’ve not seen in others is quartz.

Dark and murky in the glass. Rich powerful nose. Notes of slate stone, red and black fruit, soil, spice and some menthol. Rich fruit in the mouth. Coats the palate. Great juice that can still gain more complexity. Drink now or over next 15+ years. 94+

Jan 1st, 2023Catching up on some recent TNs. This was deep and dark with an awesome nose. Notes of black fruit, menthol, slate stone and spice. Rich and silky in the mouth. Long finish. In a great drinking zone and likely to remain there for a decade or two.

Jun 12th, 2020Tawny color with lighter rims. Earthy nose. Notes of gravel rock, black cherries, some menthol and white pepper. Rich and round in the mouth. Medium bodied and nice lasting finish. With air some incremental notes of bacon fat and maraschino cherries develop. Don’t think this can get much better with more age. Drink now and over next few years.
