Reddish tawny, Translucent. Medicinal nose. Slate, bacon fat, cherries some menthol. Rich and powerful. Silky. Long finish. Everything you want in a Cote-Rotie. At peak and in a perfect drinking window.

En magnum. A stand out from today’s belated Vintage 2020 long lunch at Herringbone with the crew. Epic wine.

Tawny color with lighter rims. Earthy nose. Notes of gravel rock, black cherries, some menthol and white pepper. Rich and round in the mouth. Medium bodied and nice lasting finish. With air some incremental notes of bacon fat and maraschino cherries develop. Don’t think this can get much better with more age. Drink now and over next few years.

Dark murky tawny color, almost opaque. Exotic nose. Notes of black cherry, some menthol, slate stone, dry earthy soil and some wood. Rich and silky in the mouth. Great finish to the trip. Aloha!

Scarlet tawny, similar in color and depth with the 99 Delas Hermitage sitting next to it. With enough air this shows as rich and flamboyant in the nose. Notes of ripe black cherries, rose petals, spice and moist earth. Powerful yet graceful on the mouth. Has great impact. It’s in what is likely a long and rewarding drinking window.

Brought to RH on Yountville. At first it has high pitched nose, almost strawberry. But with air this settles in to show more of an earthy core of fruit and dark berries that was balanced with a minimalist structure. Representative of the vintage, and a serviceable Syrah.

Dense, meaty and powerful. Lovely in every way.

Blind Rhône’s from Saturday. My #1 wine in flight 2 and also the group #1. Again, this just completely outclassed the competition in the flight. Oozing with depth, concentration and brutish elegance. Black cherry, rich earth, sauvage and a lovely spice/pepper under-current.
