Gold. Lemon zest. Intense, broad. What a treat to taste a 20+ year old Chenin.

dried chamomile, toasted hazelnuts, honeysuckle and dried mushroom on the nose leading to lemon, beeswax, apples, Meyer lemon, honey and crushed stones on the mid palate. Low alcohol with higher acidity.

Acidity was a bit softer than expected, but pleasing fruit.

🧐 don’t think I’ve had a Vouvray Sec from when I was in High School before. Not it’s best self.

Bone dry old Chenin Blanc with no signs of juiciness remaining and an unusual dried lavender character. Better paired with the beets and huckleberries than on its own. Very different from the bottle of this we had last summer.
