Regenerative Roots – Piquette
California – USA 🇺🇸

Overview
Technically not a wine in the classic sense, Piquette is crafted by adding water to pressed grape pomace (skins, seeds, stems) and re-fermenting. Often effervescent and low in alcohol, it falls under the natural wine umbrella and offers a rustic, playful drinking experience.

Aromas & Flavors
Tart cranberry, red currant, and wild strawberries, with a touch of herbal funk and earthy undertones.

Mouthfeel
Lightly spritzy, rustic, and refreshing. Low alcohol keeps it easy to drink, though raw edges show its unconventional style.

Food Pairing
Charcuterie boards, rustic breads, or farm-to-table snacks. Great for casual gatherings and picnics.

Verdict
A quirky natural-style sipper that’s more about fun and experimentation than polish. An acquired taste but a fantastic conversation starter for adventurous drinkers. However this isn’t for me!

💡 Did You Know?
Piquette originated in rural France as a drink for vineyard workers. Farmers would re-ferment leftover grape skins with water to create a light, fizzy, low-alcohol beverage, a thrifty and refreshing field drink that’s now being revived by natural winemakers.
