My first taste of Virginia, this particular bottle was a gift from my dear friend, Alison Smith Marriott. First impression—it's developed nicely, with brooding black cherries and plums lending weight to lighter aromas of cedar, earth and green peppercorn. 2011 is a polished blend of 69% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc, and 8% Petit Verdot and certainly, it display's Merlot's classic silkiness and fine tannins wrapped around a juicy core. There is a touch of black tea tannins and dried leaves on the finish. 13.5% ABV

Jan 9th, 2017First time trying RDV, and I came away pretty impressed, even though this is an entry level bottling. Hearty and juicy cab blend with muscle and earthiness but not too much of either. (From a few weeks ago)

Aug 3rd, 2016Big and chewy. Deep wine with strong fruit. Could use more aging. But shocking that it is from VA. I would have guessed a California Syrah or even a Malbec viviendo it’s huge profile. Yummy
