Creative Impulse Yakima Valley Red Bordeaux Blend

Poured into a decanter about couple of hours prior to service and enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2009 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of ripe and desiccated dark fruits: currants, brambles, tobacco, espresso, cocoa, leather and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins (integrated) and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and quite rich. I’ve always found the fruit from Rasa wines to be luscious and this was no exception. Drink now through 2029.

Creative Impulse is a blend of, 59% Cabernet & 41% Merlot. The wine spent 31 months in French Oak puncheons. Oak use is 60% new French oak and 40% neutral French oak. The wine was racked three times and not fined. The nose has beautiful floral fruits of; dark cherries, blackberries, blue notes & cherries. Spices, green pepper and mixed berry candy. The body is M and tannins M+. The fruits are beautifully floral. Cherry, dark cherries, raspberry & strawberries. Green pepper, dark rich earth, loamy soils, crushed rocks, nice soft spices, baking spices, very good acidity and a floral driven, lean elegant, long finish.
