Qupé
Bien Nacido Hillside Estate Syrah
An elegant grande damme still serving aaalll the flavor! Black cherry, prune, stewed and spiced with clove, with cut cedar, char, and dried tobacco on the long finish. The smokey-sweet nose alone is worth the trip. This was the final of three bottles of this vintage I had on hand, and the best came last! Previous bottles were a bit stale and over the hill, but this one is alive and ready!

Mar 10th, 2016Feel like I haven’t loved the Qupe in the past but this one was great. Couldn’t tell it from a reserve cab. Inky color and restrained fruit I don’t associate with Syrah. Maybe the age? J detected a note of “soap” on the front end but I didn’t...and she doesn’t like the reserve cab style so think I’m not off the mark. Would never have guessed 14.5%
