Quinta do Crasto
Reserva Old Vines Vinhas Velhas Douro Red Blend
Dark nose. Smoke, dark berries, hint of mineral, leather and bittersweet cocoa. Hint of dog chow as well. Smells nice but a hint of blockiness. Palate is ok. Kind of all over the place. Decent freshness. Let down from the nose. Good tannins but also heat. Decent fruit but dirty I think.

Nov 23rd, 2019For the reserva with 5+ yrs I expected it to be a bit more refined. As others have mentioned its on the boozy side. Though slightly “in your face” there is much to like. The nose is very complex and the palate is anything from boring. Before trying another bottle I would like to aged this for another 3 years. Still worth the price.

Nov 27th, 2020A sexy half bottle: dark chocolate and sour cherry aromas (violet on the nose). Potent, concentrated and with a persistent aftertaste.

May 31st, 2020Duoro red blend from old vines. Takes about 45 mins to fully open up. Dark as night with a complex nose. On the pallet it feels rich and complex with an unpredictable finesse and long finish reminiscent of dried plum, vanilla, and a certain earthyness.
Absolutely the best wine I’ve ever tasted from Portugal. I’d say drink up, this is extremely enjoyable at the moment.

Oct 1st, 2019Deep ruby.
Pronounced intensity youthful aromas of wild fruit, blackberry, blackcurrant, raspberry, dark cherry, ink, liquorice, cedar, fresh spices, pepper, violet.
Explosive dry concentrated palate, high acidity, high smoothened tannins, high alcohol-no overtone, full body, pronounced intensity.
Long fresh fruit and spicy finish.
Outstanding wine, great vintage, literally a newborn baby with great mouth concentration, can be aged for 2 decades at least. Accessible to drink, suitable for further aging.

Smooth tannins and violet notes. The grapes come from their 100+ year old vines that they are still testing for varieties. My favorite red from the Douro.
