Densely extracted, purple-red. Floral, violet, butter and wood in nose. Plum, cherry, blackberry and chocolate in mouth, black currant finish. Later, earthy. Slight seed tannin bitterness, tactile prickliness and moderate (and increasing with aeration) astringency in aftertaste. North America could use more decent Portuguese reds like this.
