Wow, a stunner , why pay so much for Bordeaux when you can drink this

The second 88' I've opened and requires a few hours to dust off the very damp and earthy nose. Once that dissipates you're left with a gem the French should envy. Enjoy if you have any but give it time to open...

This was exceptional. In a blind I would have guessed an 82 Margaux. I would guess this is at its prime. The terroir is magical and these early vintages are so enjoyable. On the pallet, dark fruit, black cherry, vanilla, fig and licorice all soft but there. One of my favorite wines of all time.
