Ripe black cherry and raspberry create a nice juicy core, with black pepper and soft vanilla on the finish. Not overly oaky despite two thirds new oak. Blind taste called California Bordeaux blend.

Apr 19th, 2018This is the 2006. I'm actually rather taken with this wine. Red fruit, leafiness, cedar, smoke, and pungent spice shine through on the nose. Palate is earthy and very tasty with black fruit, leather, and a pleasantly bitter edge that stands up to strong flavors without becoming overbearing. Strong but very fine tannins back this all up. This is a food wine, and it's a very nice one.

I was searching for New Zealand wines for a wine class when he strongly recommended I give this a try. I'll be honest, I was sceptical of paying anything over $30 for NZ wine but this is worth every penny and more! Love it.
