Pulenta Estate
X Gran Malbec
The 2018 Gran Malbec from Los Árboles, Uco Valley was aged for 12 months in 10% new French barrels. A dense purple in the glass, the nose offers notes of plum, violet, country herbs and sour cherry against a backdrop of sweet spices and other woody aromas. Indulgent initially, it’s juicy and fleshy in the mouth, gaining in freshness and fruity flavor as the channeled flow progresses. Long-lasting with a bold finish, fresh plum aromas linger at the back of the throat. A delicious wine. (Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous, November 2021)

Glad I got a 6pk of this wine yesterday! Rich and pretty with that nice citrus aroma I always look for in well made Malbec.

Oct 1st, 2014If a wine does not meet your (high) expectations, is it a disappointment?? 🤔. Yeah, everything is relative. This six year old Gran Malbec was still super tight. Sharp, spicy oak tannins (lots of new French oak?) kept anything possibly underneath totally hidden. Although some greener notes came through early on and again later after about 2-3 hours of opening. So, yeah. Not balanced, very intense, limited lingering and single note. Agung will help for sure but not confident if this wine will ever fully shine. But don’t be down on Pulenta. Fantastic winery. We will visit this fall (their Spring) as Spoken Wines. Talking about Spoken Wines, have you seen our latest video story of Hartenberg?? And their incredible commitment to regenerative viticulture, lead by… cows!! Beautifully explained and demonstrated right in front of you by Wilhelm Joubert, the viticulturist. Check it out. And don’t miss the surprise at the end 😁. www.spokenwines.com

Jan 6th, 2020I waited years to drink this Malbec and it did not disappoint. I finally enjoyed it on Thanksgiving. Deep ruby color,
mineral, plum, blueberry and spice with hints of jalapeno. Full body, with soft and round tannins with juicy finish. Chalk and dried earth in the flavors; medium finish, perky aftertaste.

Dec 24th, 2018Realmente um Gran Malbec! Final extremamente longo, sabores e aromas que se desenvolvem e evoluem a medida que o vinho se oxigena. Perfeito com carne assada (cupim). Um vinho excepcional!
